This is a page devoted to the beautiful and graceful Arwen Evenstar who gave up her immortality to bind herself to Aragorn Elessar II, King of Gondor.
Arwen's Fate She met Aragorn in Rivendell when he was very young and just came to know of his true heritage of being in the line of kings. She had been in the realm of Lothlorien with her grandmother Galadriel, Lady of Light. Aragorn had mistaken her for Luthien Tinuviel, of whom she is said to walk in the likeness and had proved later that she shared the same fate. The Evenstar gave up her immortal life as a elf to be counted among men. She died soon after Aragorn's passing.
In the Two Towers, the second in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, Arwen had a hard time choosing her the way she would go. By going with Aragorn and forsaking her immortality, she would never she the Grey Havens (Valinor). She would never see any of her family ever again since all of the elven-kind was leaving Middle-Earth forever. If she went with her father to Valinor she would loose her one true love.
In the Two Towers, you are lead to believe that Arwen is leaving for the Grey Havens, but as shown in Return of the King, she remains in Middle-Earth with Aragorn.
